Getting Setup with VoIP
Advantage
If you ordered a handset from us at the same time as you signed up to our
service, then it should come pre-configured for you to use.
Meanwhile, the standard settings for most SIP Phones/devices are as follows:
- Make sure that your SIP Phone is turned on and connected to an IP Router or
Modem. If you are using a softphone (we use SJphone, eyeBeam or X-Lite
generally) make sure that your PC is connected to the network.
- In your phone's configuration menu there should be an option to define a
"SIP Server", "SIP Registrar" or "SIP Domain" value. Set this value
to:
sip.voipadvantage.co.uk if you are a Single Line
user;
lon-pbx-1.voipadvantage.co.uk (or lon-pbx-2 to lon-pbx-12
depending on the information given to you in your registration email) if you are
a Centrex user.
- For SIP Authentication, set your SIP User ID or similar to your VoIP
Advantage VoIP ID (eg 2002680) and set the SIP Password or similar to your
six-digit Password provided in your activation email.
- If you have an "Outbound Proxy" setting, set this to:
nat.voipadvantage.co.uk:5082. Alternatively, if this setting allows you to
define the port in a separate field, set the IP Address to:
nat.voipadvantage.co.uk and the port number to: 5082.
Note: There will be no need to use the outbound proxy if your adaptor/phone
has a static public IP address assigned to it.
- Confirm the settings by reloading or rebooting your phone. Dial 160 to
access the echo test utility to check that the phone is working correctly.
- If you encounter any problems, make sure that your IP Router or ISP is not
blocking any traffic, specifically on ports 5060 and 5082. Also ensure that the
router is not blocking UDP traffic. You can contact your network administrator
or ISP for more information.
- For additional assistance please refer to our instructions for other models
here. You can also contact our support team via email (support@voipadvantage.co.uk). Please
state your phone model, VoIP Advantage VoIP ID and provide screenshots if
possible in order to resolve any issues you may have as effectively as
possible.
