Frequently Asked Questions

08/04/08 :: What's that 05 number?

In your control panel you may see a number starting with the number 05. All our users are allocated a telephone number beginning with 05 as well as their normal telephone number. This 05 number is used for presentation to the emergency services. There are no charges associated with this number.

25/03/08 :: Do you provide a fax-to-email service?

Yes, we do. Simply tell us what country and area code you want and which email address you would like your faxes forwarded to.

29/11/07 :: What sort of choice of numbers do I have? Can I pick a memorable number for my business?

You can choose numbers from a range of area codes (local, London, 0800, 0845, 0870). If you click on our Sign In/Up page, and fill in your contact details, then you can select an area code and, on the next page, you get to choose the actual number you want. At no additional cost you can receive the next number to be issued automatically, or you can choose from our Bronze, Silver and Gold ranges of memorable numbers.

29/11/07 :: Can you supply non-geographic numbers like 0845, 0800 and 0870 numbers?

Yes, we can and at no additional cost. When you sign up to the service simply select a non-geographic number area code instead of your normal local area code.

30/01/07 :: What happens to my BT line and other services (i.e. broadband) when my number is 'ported' to your service?

When your number is ported to our service the line is disconnected and all services running on it are ended. Therefore it is necessary to move any other services (i.e. broadband) to a new phone number before starting the porting process for the number you wish to move to our service.

04/12/06 :: Do you know if it is possible to transfer phone calls (like you can on a normal phone exchange)? Is it dependent on the phone, or is it like pressing recall or something?

If you are using eyeBeam / X-Lite:

1) You have a call on line 1;
2) You put that call on hold by pressing Line 2;
3) Dial the number of the person you wish to transfer the call to (an internal OR external number);
4) Speak to the person, tell them who you've got on the line for them then:
5) Press 'XFER' and then Line 1. Call transferred!

30/11/06 :: Am I right in thinking that two people could call that number at the same time and both get through?

Yes, two people can call that number at the same time and both get through.

30/11/06 :: Could you ‘port’ our current office number, so that becomes the number that goes through to the VOIP (without having to divert calls on a BT line)?

You can 'port' your current office number, but at the moment this is only possible if you are using BT for your existing number. Also, moving the number can take a couple of weeks, though you are not without the phone during that time.

30/11/06 :: Could you please let me know if the VOIP "switchboard" that you mention at £7pm also works if locations are situated in different geographic locations?

The VoIP 'switchboard' links to upto ten PC's (extensions) for £7pm. Each PC is identified by an IP address and the connection is made to the relevant IP address. These PCs can therefore be anywhere in the world. If you are using a laptop, wherever you are when you connect the laptop to the internet (including any wifi cafe or hotel) will be your geographic location at that time.

29/11/06 :: I am thinking of subscribing. Can you tell me if it is possible, with the same phone number, to expand the number of internal connections for the one account to more than 10 if necessary (obviously for more cost)?

Yes, it is possible to expand the number of internal connections for the one account to more than 10.

To get the extra extension numbers and to increase the number of concurrent calls that can be made/received at any one time you will need to purchase additional lines (which do give you additional telephone numbers but you do not need to publicise or actively use them).

If you do not need to use the extra extension numbers immediately, you can book/reserve related extension numbers at a marginal cost during the sign up process. i.e. our main extension number is 2002680 and when we set this up we were allocated the next 9 numbers in sequence up to 2002689, by booking more numbers at the same time we could reserve the sequence upto 2002699 or higher. Then later we can activate these extensions by purchasing extra lines.

22/09/06 :: I currently have some 0870 numbers which redirect to my standard landline - if I get rid of my landline number, would I still be able to redirect the 0870 numbers to your system?

Yes, you can re-direct all your 0870 numbers to your new VoIP service number.
